Chipata District Commissioner, Kalunga Zulu has been accused of influencing the council to grade a road in East Rise area because that is where his private house is situated.
Some residents in the area told Breeze News that the grading of the road only started when the DC and other senior government officials started constructing houses in the area.
They have asked government to investigate how the decision to grade the road was made especially that it leads directly to his home.
And when contacted for a comment, Chipata District Commissioner, Kalunga Zulu says it is unfair for people to accuse him of influencing the council to grade the road because the road in question does not lead to his house alone.
Mr. Zulu denied abusing his authority, stating that development is for all people because the road in question is in a deplorable state.
And Chipata Municipal Council Public Relations Officer, Taonga Kaonga says the council has not received any directive from any government official to grade a road in East Rise area.
She says the grading of the road in the area is among other road projects that the council is working on through various departments in the district.
