Chipata district has received 31 metric tonnes of maize seed to be given to farmers whose crops might have been damaged by army worms.
Acting District Agriculture Coordinator, DACO, Chrisborne Mubamba who confirmed this to Breeze News says that the maize seeds will only be given out upon verification that the field has been damaged by army worms.
And Dr. Mubamba says that army worms have attacked two fields belonging to Headman Kapinga in Chiwoko area of Chipata district.
Dr. Mubamba however says that the two fields have been sprayed and the situation is under control.
Dr. Mubamba appealed to the general public to report to his office if they see suspected army worms anywhere.
