Chipata has only three health institutions that provide TB diagnosis.

Only three out of forty five health institutions in Chipata are able to provide TB diagnosis.
These are Mwami Adventist hospital, Muzeyi rural health centre and Chipata Chest clinic.
Chipata district Commissioner, Kalunga Zulu also says that other health institutions like M’kanda, Chiparamba, Jerusalem and Chiwoko ZNS clinic only provide sputum microscopic services.
Mr. Zulu however, says that government will work hand in hand with the Provincial and District Health Offices to meet the global vision of a free TB world by 2050.
Speaking during World TB Day commemoration held in Chiparamba yesterday, Mr. Zulu says that this will be done through providing capacity building for staff and community volunteers on TB management and also providing laboratory diagnosis logistics with free TB drugs.
And Mr. Zulu says TB mortality rate in Chipata district has reduced from 7 per- cent in 2011 to 6 per-cent in 2012.
He also says that the TB cure rate has increased from 78 per-cent in 2011 to 82 per-cent in 2012.
