A serious power problem last evening plunged eight provinces in the country into darkness while Zimbabwe was completely blacked out.
And the power interruption paralyzed operations for most companies in Eastern Province while residents who rely on ZESCO electricity had a tough evening and morning.
Speaking to Breeze News, companies like Eastern Water and Sewerage Company indicated that they will record a loss this month because of too many power interruptions.
Company Spokesperson, Henry Kashoki says that the loss is likely to be huge since almost all districts in the province are being affected by the power outages.
Meanwhile some residents said that they had to sleep without eating, wake up without eating and put on clothes which have not been ironed.
The residents, who expressed anger, explained that it was only last week, when they were forced to throw away their food, which went to waste in refrigerators because of no power.
ZESCO stated that the grid experienced an unknown major fault at Luano Power Station which triggered a protective shut down of generators in Kariba and Kafue Gorge.
