Chipata Young Stars survive relegation after beating Lusaka City Council by 1 goal to nil.

Chipata Young Stars has survived relegation from FAZ Division one south league after beating Lusaka City Council by 1 goal to nil, in the mid-week make or break fixture played at David Kaunda Stadium.
This means Chipata Young Stars will remain in FAZ, Football Association of Zambia division one south league, regardless of the results when it plays Luena Barracks of Kaoma in the next game.
Chipata Young Stars now sits on 39 points, while their closest rivals, Chilenje Youth Academy have 35 points.
And Chipata Young Stars vice chairperson, James Chiti expressed happiness that the team has broken the record by being the first club from Eastern Province to survive relegation.
Chiti said that the club recorded this great achievement, despite facing financial challenges.
He explained that from the very start, the team survived on individual’s pockets as it did not have an official sponsor.
And Chiti therefore, explained that rumours that the club has gone bankrupt are misleading, as the team has never really had a lot of money.
He called on people and the community in the province to come on board and sponsor the team, as it fights to qualify to premier league next season.
