Chizongwe-Katopola road has been approved for tarring works.

Government has approved plans for upgrading of the Chizongwe – Katopola road to bituminous standard.
Chipata Municipal Council Acting Director of Engineering, Edward Zulu has confirmed the development to Breeze News.
Mr. Zulu says that Sable Construction Company has been given the contract as part of the ongoing contract to tar some of the township roads in Chipata.
He however, was not in a position to state when the works are likely to begin, stating that his office is waiting for the revised work schedule from Sable, in light of the new development.
Mr. Zulu has also assured that the addition will in no way affect the pace of the current works taking place along Kalindawalo and Napsa road.
He says that currently, the works are at about 80 per cent, with most of the major roads under the contract already tarred.
And Mr Zulu has appealed to members of the community to desist from throwing garbage in drainages under construction, stating that the blocked drainages would cause flooding.
He explained that the flooding will in turn compromise the newly tarred roads and drastically reduce the lifespan of the roads.
