Chizongwe Technical Secondary School in Chipata has continued producing good results at Grade nine and twelve both at regional and national level.
This came to light yesterday, during the commemoration of the schools’ 60 years Diamond Jubilee.
School Deputy Head Teacher, Aston Mwanza says that last year, the school attained the best grade twelve results ever at 96 percent pass rate.
He explained that out of 364 pupils who sat for grade 12 examinations, 307 pupils got division one while 11 pupils got 6 points and 78 pupils qualified to University level.
Mr. Mwanza however, asked government to quickly attend to the challenges that the school is facing, in order to continue making the institution a center of academic and professional excellence.
He mentioned the current load shedding as one which has negatively affected the pupils because they are unable to have enough study time at night as they used to, adding that the school does not have its own generator.
Mr. Mwanza added that land encroachment, problem of trespassers, poor road network and the dilapidated infrastructure at the school also needs quick intervention by the higher authorities.
And Eastern Province Assistance Secretary, Beenzu Chikuba says government will consider best ways of addressing the challenges being faced by the school.
Ms. Chikuba says that doors are open for well-wishers especially former Chizongwe pupils to contribute to the well-being of the school.
Chizongwe Technical School continues to record success in the last 60 years.
