Eastern Province Permanent Secretary, Chanda Kasolo has challenged civil servants in Eastern Province to build their own houses.
Mr. Kasolo observes that less than 10 per cent of civil servants in the region can claim to own their own houses.
Speaking during a cocktail evening hosted by Ikulile Initiative Enterprise in Chipata, Mr. Kasolo noted that it is important for civil servants to secure their future in case they lose jobs unexpectedly.
He also advised civil servants that investment in real estate properties was better than buying vehicles.
The permanent secretary welcomed the decision by Ikulile Initiative Enterprise to invest in Eastern Province.
And speaking earlier, Ikulile Initiative Enterprise Chief Executive Officer, Hezborn Chintu explained that his company was providing an opportunity to people to build houses at a lowest cost ever.
Mr. Chintu stated that his company has introduced a package where a person is able to build a reasonable three to four bedroomed house through depositing 20,000 Kwacha with Ikulile Initiative Enterprise.
He said that the company would make an initial investment of 5,000 Kwacha in providing building materials like cement and roofing sheets at its new outlet in Chipata.
