Close to 2000 cattle in Lundazi District have been vaccinated against East Coast Fever.

The Veterinary Department in Lundazi has vaccinated close to 2000 cattle against East Coast Fever.

Speaking to Breeze News, Lundazi District Veterinary Officer, Dr. Kelvin Kampamba revealed that the Veterinary Department had targeted to vaccinate 2000 cattle last month and that 99 per cent of that was achieved.

Dr. Kampamba was pleased to note that vaccination of calves has tremendously improved in Lundazi.

And commenting in the rabies outbreak experienced in the Province, Dr Kampamba explained that the district has not yet recorded any confirmed rabies cases.

He however, says that the district had suspected rabid dogs which were destroyed and samples taken to Chipata for confirmation.

Dr Kampamba says that the district has about 400 doses of vaccines.

The Province has so far recorded three confirmed rabies related deaths.
