Construction of Chadiza Civic Center has stalled due to lack of funding.
Acting Council Secretary Rutherford Nduli says that the local authority needs about 800,000 Kwacha to complete the project.
Mr Nduli says that the works which are near completion have so far consumed 1.5 million Kwacha, which is about 80 per cent of the total works done so far.
He says that once the funds are available, the construction works will be completed.
Meanwhile the Ministry Education in Chadiza has proposed to construct and upgrade five secondary schools in the district within a period of 5 years.
According to the submission made during the DDCC, District Development Coordinating Committee meeting, government proposes to build one boarding school, two day secondary schools and upgrade two primary schools into day secondary schools.
Presenting the report, Chadiza District Education Board Secretary, Boaz Banda says the schools to be upgraded are Bwanunkha and Kabvumo primary schools.
Mr. Banda also revealed that government wants to put up infrastructure for Chadiza Day Secondary School as they are currently squatting at Chadiza Primary School.
