Construction of Chikando Day Secondary School in Luangeni Constituency of Chipata district has stalled for five years.
Chikando Ward Councillor, Goodson Thole confirmed this to Breeze News.
Mr. Thole says the construction works of a 23 million Kwacha school which started in 2010 were supposed to be completed in 2012.
Mr. Thole says the contractor who has now abandoned the works only managed to construct two classroom blocks and three teacher’s houses up to roof level.
The area ward councillor says government has promised to engage another contractor to finish the works.
Mr. Thole says people in his ward have been questioning him as to when the school will be completed so that pupils in the area can start using it.
