Construction works of the Great East Road have reached 95 per cent.
Road Development Agency, RDA Regional Manager, Thomas Zimba confirmed to Breeze News that the road works will be completed before the end of next month.
Mr. Zimba says works on the main road have been completed, but the contractor, Motor Engel is still putting up road signs, constructing walkways and drainage systems.
Mr. Zimba added that the completion of the road will see Umodzi Highway having traffic lights at three points within the Central Business District area.
He cautioned pedestrians to be more careful when crossing the widened road to avoid accidents, saying it is not possible to stop people from using the road which is under construction but proper precaution must be followed.
The RDA Regional Manager added that pedestrian crossing points will be labelled on the road upon completion of the works.
