Council workers misbehaving in Eastern Province risk being fired.

Government has warned council officers against misbehaving at work places stating that such workers risk losing their jobs.
Local Government and Housing Minister, John Phiri issued the warning at Chipata Municipal Council chamber when he met councillors and council officers yesterday.
Dr Phiri says council officers should not deliberately misbehave because the culture of transferring an erring officer will not be tolerated.
He stated that the government had the capacity to fire anyone found misbehaving.
Dr Phiri also expressed worry with illegal land allocation across all towns in the country.
He stated that most of the towns in the country have been choked due to the illegal developers who have been allowed to build houses by council officers.
The minister says that the trend must come to an end, stating that only serious developers must be allowed to build houses and other infrastructures.
Dr Phiri says local authorities such as Chipata Municipal Council must show seriousness in implementing projects if it is to attain a city status.
