Councils in Eastern Province have been directed to improve the way they supervise contractors carrying out developmental projects.
Eastern Province Permanent Secretary, Chanda Kasolo says government wants to see quality developmental projects in the province including projects under CDF, Constituency Development Fund.
Mr. Kasolo was speaking this morning when he officially opened the PDCC Provincial Development Coordinating Committee meeting in Chipata.
He cited the construction of a health post under CDF in Katete district which he said was poorly done and has wasted resources due to lack of supervision by the council.
He says government is determined to see that development takes place in the province and create an enabling environment for economic investment which will create wealth and employment.
Mr. Kasolo says this can be attained by full participation from various stakeholders.
The PS also called for change of attitude towards work among workers adding that they should attach seriousness to their work for development to be attained.
