Dams drying up in Chipata

Some dams in Chipata district are drying up, raising worry that people in rural areas will have no source of water.
Chipata Mayor, Goodson Thole told Breeze News that it is important for government to start thinking of drilling boreholes because water levels have reduced in most dams.
Mr. Thole, who is Chikando Ward Councillor, says that Saili Dam is among those, which might dry up.
He explained that the reduction of water levels in the dams could be attributed to poor rainfall in the 2012/2013 rain season.
Mr. Thole has appealed to government to take steps in addressing the situation.
