Some people engaged as data collectors by the Eastern Water and Sewerage Company have cried foul over delayed payments.
In a letter to Breeze News, the workers, who did not want to be identified, explained that they have not been given money for the first month despite being promised on various occasions.
They explained that they have information that the funders of the project have queries on the number of people engaged to carry out the project, as well as retirement records on the amount of money spent during their training.
They have therefore given the water utility company up to today to pay them, failure to which they have warned to reveal more information on the manner in which the project is being handled.
And Eastern Water and Sewerage Company Managing Director, Lytone Kanowa, acknowledged that the data collectors have not yet been paid their money for the work done in the first month of the project.
He however, expressed surprise that the workers have gone to the media to complain, when they were talked to yesterday.
Mr. Kanowa explained that the delay has come about because of change of staff at the funder’s office.
He explained that funders have assured his company that the money will be available by the end of this week.
