Government has confirmed that some contractors working on road projects in Eastern Province have not yet been paid.
Speaking to Breeze News, Eastern Province Permanent Secretary, Chanda Kasolo however, says that government is doing everything possible to ensure that contractors are paid.
Mr. Kasolo explained that the distribution of the funds is being done according to the importance of the projects but it is a small cake shared by many hands.
He says that contactors need engineers to certify their work first before the money can be released adding that contractors are paid in stages upon approval of the quality of work.
Some contractors revealed that they were last paid in August last year, which has affected completion of the projects.
The problem seems to have also affected road contractors working on the Chipata- Chadiza and Chipata- Vubwi roads who have not yet resumed works from last year when they went on industrial break.
Delay in government funding affects some road projects in Eastern Province.
