Delegates at the national convention in Lusaka last evening voted to return the death penalty.
Breeze FM Staffer, Isaac Ngoma reports that 177 delegates voted to return the death penalty while 137 voted against.
The delegates also voted to have degree as the minimum qualification for the speaker and also to put the age cap that a presidential candidate should not be more than 75 years of age.
Meanwhile the National convention has decided against voting as to whether the Barotse Agreement should be included in the draft constitution.
This was after former speaker of the national assembly Amussa Mwanamwambwa proposed that the issue of the Barotse Agreement be withdrawn from the ballot.
Mr. Mwanambwa noted that the Barotse Agreement should be referred to parties concerned, the government and Barotse Royal Establishment.
The convention endorsed the proposal, which saw the voting, which had already started being cancelled.
