Diabetes has remained one of the major health problems in Chipata district.
Chipata District Medical Officer, Davies Simwaba told Breeze News that more people are being diagnosed with diabetes while others are dying from the disease.
Dr. Simwaba says diabetes is the major disease claiming people’s lives followed by Road Traffic Accidents, cancers and celebrovascra diseases that come with stroke.
Dr. Simwaba says diabetes is a lifetime condition that occurs due to poor eating habits, too much alcohol intake and lack of exercise.
He says this is why the World Health Day that will be commemorated on April 7th will focus on sensitizing the community on how to beat diabetes.
Dr. Simwaba urged people to change their eating habits by avoiding junk foods, too much alcohol and focus on doing a lot of exercises.
