Distribution of relief maize to hunger stricken villagers in Sinda district to start this week.

Distribution of relief maize to hunger stricken villagers in Sinda district will start this week.
Sinda District Commissioner Paradious Sakala says that the district has been given 286 metric tonnes of relief maize by the office of the vice president through DMMU.
Mr. Sakala says four wards in Kapoche Constituency, which are in Sinda district are the most affected by hunger due to the poor rains experienced during the 2014-2015 farming season.
He says that the distribution will start with the 150 metric tonnes in the first phase while the remaining bags of maize will be distributed in the second phase.
Mr. Sakala says that 80 per cent of relief maize will be food for work while the other 20 per cent will be given for free to the aged, chronically ill and child headed households.
