Drug Enforcement Commission arrests 25 people countrywide

The Drug Enforcement Commission, DEC has arrested 25 people countrywide for unlawful cultivation and trafficking in various quantities of cannabis.
In a statement to Breeze News, DEC Public Relations Officer, Theresa Katongo says that in Central Province, the commission has arrested a truck driver in Kapiri Mposhi district for trafficking in Miraa.
Omari Banda, 36, a truck driver has been arrested for trafficking in 160 bundles of Miraa weighing 42 kilograms.
Others arrested include James Mwewa Bwalya, 43, a driver of Serenje District for trafficking in loose cannabis weighing 24.1 kilograms, Marson Kalunga, 22, also of Serenje District for trafficking in 18.4 kilograms of cannabis and Martin Simpokolwe, 36, a peasant farmer of Chitimbwa village in Mpulungu district for trafficking in loose cannabis weighing 15.4 kilograms.
And in Western Province, Ms. Katongo says the commission has arrested Oscar Pelekelo Lufwiso, 39, a peasant farmer of Katete area in Sioma District for unlawful cultivation of fresh cannabis plants weighing 34.6 kilograms of fresh plants
She says that all the suspects will appear in court soon.
