Government has expressed concern over the sporadic abuse of privileges of hunting in Eastern Province.
Eastern Province Permanent Secretary, Chanda Kasolo told Breeze News that a lot of poachers misuse their hunting privileges by gunning down unintended animals for their personal benefits.
Mr. Kasolo says the trend may end up finishing animals that assist in bringing about development to the province if left unchecked.
Mr. Kasolo says he is going to table the matter with authorities at the Ministry of Tourism in Lusaka to see how best they can curb the situation.
And Mr. Kasolo says the dissolving of ZAWA, the Zambia Wildlife Authority when the Authority changed to Department of Wildlife and Natural Resources has also contributed to the high number of illegal poaching in most game parks of the province because security has reduced.
He says that he will discuss the matter with authorities at the Ministry of Tourism to employ more officers so that security is tightened in the game parks.
