The Ministry of Health says that health facilities in Eastern Province have enough stocks of condoms.
This is contrary to claims by the Zambia Medical Association that the country has been hit by shortage of condoms especially HIV related organisations and hospitals.
Speaking to Breeze News, Provincial Medical Officer, Abel Kabalo says that claims by Zambia Medical Association are not correct.
Dr. Kabalo says that all health facilities including those in the remotest parts of the province have adequate stocks of condoms.
He says that Eastern Province has an advantage of medical supplies following the establishment of Medical Stores hub in Chipata.
Meanwhile Provincial Aids Coordination Advisor, Emmanuel Chama says that his office has not received any report from organisations dealing with HIV issues that they have inadequate stocks of condoms.
The Zambia Medical Association yesterday indicated that all health facilities across the country and HIV organisations have inadequate stocks of condoms and that the majority of condoms are those which are commercially available in shops.
