The Meteorological Department has predicted that Eastern Province will receive normal to above normal rainfall in the 2016-2017 rainy season.
Provincial Meteorological Officer John Londolo says that farmers and the general public are advised to consider this forecast before executing activities for the season.
Mr. Londolo says that during the period October, November and December, much of the province has a high chance of receiving normal to above normal rainfall.
He however, explains that the extreme North Eastern part of Lundazi district has a likelihood of recording normal rains.
And Mr. Londolo says that during the period November, December and January, most districts in the province will likely receive normal to below normal rainfall.
January, February and March will likely see the province receiving normal to above normal rainfall.
Mr. Londolo says that the 2016-2017 seasonal rainfall forecast is largely expected to be influenced by the La Nina conditions over the equatorial Pacific Ocean.
