Eastern Water and Sewerage Company has engaged bailiffs to assist recover money from customers with outstanding bills.
Acting Public Relations Officer, Elias Simpemba confirmed the development to Breeze News.
Mr. Simpemba says that the water company has decided to put the exercise in phases with the first one involving thirty clients who owe about 200,000 Kwacha.
He explained that the water company was forced to engage bailiffs because customers have been adamant to settle the bills.
And Mr. Simpemba says that Eastern Water and Sewerage Company will not deal directly with customers who have been visited by bailiffs.
Last week some customers who own shops were caught napping after the bailiffs pounced on them and confiscated a number of items in a bid to force them to settle the bills.
