The water level in Lutembwe Dam One in Chipata has drastically reduced resulting in Eastern Water and Sewerage Company failing to pump water.
Company Public Relations Officer, Henry Kashoki has confirmed the development to Breeze News.
Mr. Kashoki says that the company is now forced to borrow water from Lutembwe Dam Two, which it is using to supply residents in Kapata and David Kaunda Township.
He says that the situation at Lutembwe Dam One will only normalise after the rains start.
Meanwhile Eastern Water and Sewerage Company has engaged a consultant to assist in balancing the water supply system in Chipata district.
Mr. Kashoki says that the current system of opening water valves is not balanced, a situation, which results in some areas not receiving water when there is low supply.
