Customers in Chadiza district owe Eastern Water and Sewerage Company 250,000 Kwacha in an unpaid water bills.
Company Managing Director, Lytone Kanowa confirmed this during a stakeholders meeting held in Chadiza yesterday.
Mr Kanowa also says that customer base in Chadiza has now grown to 823 customers, translating to 98 per cent as of July 2016.
He says that despite the customer base increasing in the district, the company is experiencing challenges such as high cost of production which is far beyond the revenue being collected.
Mr. Kanowa says the company has done its best to improve water supply in the district adding that customers should in turn support the company through settling of water bills.
And speaking during the same meeting, Acting Council Secretary Michael Ngulube called on all the customers to pay the bills.
