Eastern Water and Sewerage Company has been challenged to find a lasting solution on the high levels of silt in Apollo and Lutembwe Dam two in Chipata district.

The challenge was made by the District Epidemics Committee members led by Chipata District Administrative Officer, Kapembwa Sikazwe.

The Committee members observed that the high levels of silt if not controlled will negatively affect the water levels in the two Dams.

And Eastern Water and Sewerage Company, Chipata District Manager, December Banda says the company will discuss the matter with the Forestry department.

Mr. Banda says the two departments will agree on when to start planting trees around the Dams to avoid soil erosion, caused by cultivation near the Dams.
