Journalists have been told to be challenging news sources, especially politicians as they issue statements ahead of the August 11 General Elections.
ECZ Public Relations Manager Chris Akufuna says some journalists just write stories on statements from politicians without questioning or challenging them to provide evidence of their accusations.
Breeze FM Staffer, Gift Phiri reports that Mr. Akufuna said this when he closed a three days workshop in Lusaka.
Mr. Akufuna noted that some statements issued by politicians are questionable.
And Mr. Akufuna urged media organizations to encourage Zambians to fully participate in the Referendum on the Bill of Rights, which will be held alongside the general elections.
He explained that the media needs to help explain the Bill of Rights so that people understand.
