General Education Minister Dr. John Phiri yesterday failed to lodge in his nomination papers on the PF ticket for Lundazi parliamentary seat.
This is after Dr. Phiri arrived at the nomination centre late by 50 minutes.
District Election Officer Boyd Kaoma indicated that he could not go against the law to accept the nomination papers beyond the stipulated time.
And a UNIP candidate Chifumu Chipeta also found himself in a similar situation like Dr. Phiri after he turned up late at 18 hours to file in his nomination papers.
Mr. Chipeta alleged that he had delayed because he was scouting for money to pay the nomination fee.
Meanwhile four candidates successfully filed in their nomination papers for Lundazi parliamentary seat.
These are Frackson Banda for UPND and three independent candidates, Lawrence Nyirenda, Bizwayo Nkhunika and Evans Kazonga Ngoma.
