EFAZ condemns plans to allow farmers sell produce in Lusaka.

Eastern Fodya Association of Zambia EFAZ has condemned a decision to allow farmers sell their produce in Lusaka this marketing season.

Provincial Chairperson Franklin Mwale says that it will be a strain on farmers to transport their produce to Lusaka.

Mr Mwale says that TBZ, Tobacco Board of Zambia should instead encourage crop buying companies to buy produce from Eastern Province.

He was responding to a statement issued by TBZ that Alliance One Zambia which pulled out from Eastern Province last season will still buy tobacco from the region in Lusaka.

TBZ Chief Executive Officer Samson Muyembe indicated that TBZ would assist farmers that intend to transport their tobacco to Lusaka.

But Mr Mwale says that government should intervene so that such a thing does not happen.
