A least 96 per cent of the expected population target have been administered against the Elephantiasis disease in Lundazi district.
District Community Medical Officer, Allan Chisenga has told Breeze News that his office received an overwhelming response from the 10 day programme.
Dr. Chisenga stated that the district initially had set a target to administer 280,000 people but failed to due to logistical challenges.
He indicated that the community drug distributors had no challenges of people refusing to take the drugs during the exercise.
And Dr. Chisenga revealed that Lundazi district is among the worst hit with the presence of the disease across the country.
He stated that interventions for malaria prevention such as indoor residue spray, barring of ditches, sleeping under treated mosquito nets and avoiding mosquito bites are key to prevention of elephantiasis.
