And some traders, who have the commodity in stock have defied government’s directive to sell the commodity at 55 Kwacha rebased.
A check by Breeze News this morning at the second class trading area, commonly known as the down shops found that some wholesale shops have run out of the commodity.
This has forced people to start queuing at shops that still have the commodity in stock.
And a check at Kapata Market found a 25 kilogram bag of mealie- meal being sold at between 62 and 65 Kwacha while Roller meal is selling at between 50 and 55 Kwacha.
Meanwhile some super markets within the first class trading area have done away with selling the 25 kilogram bags of mealie meal, indicating that the price of 55 kwacha is not profitable.
The traders have instead decided to be selling 10 kilogram bags of breakfast, which have been pegged at 27 Kwacha.
