Establishement of RTSA fast track courts delay in Eastern Province

Limited infrastructure under the judiciary system is posing a challenge to the establishment of fast track courts in Eastern Province.
Road Transport and Safety Agency, RTSA Public Relations Officer, Frederick Mubanga told Breeze News that this has forced the agency to shoulder the costs of constructing a courtroom with the Ministry of Justice.
Mr. Mubanga expressed hope that the fast track court will be established by the end of this year.
A fast track court system was piloted in Lusaka to deal with traffic offenders.
Mr. Mubanga says that the system is proving to be effective as the number of cases being recorded in a week has reduced from about 30 to about 5.
He says that this is a step in the right direction as the agency aims to reduce road traffic accidents by 50 per cent by 2020.
