Construction works for a third bank in Lundazi district have been halted by the local authority
According to Lundazi District Council Secretary Boyd Kaoma, the council did not follow the right procedure before allocating the land for construction works to Indo Bank.
Mr. Kaoma explained to Breeze News that according to the Town and Country Planning Act, the council is supposed to advertise the land in question in the public media for three days to allow people with reservations to come forward and challenge why the land should not be used for the intended purpose.
He says that the council has now started the process of advertising the land in the public media which is currently running.
Mr. Kaoma further explained that the council will also apply for the change of use of the land to the Ministry of Local Government and Housing.
He indicated that construction works will only resume in two weeks’ time after all the right procedures have been followed.
Failure to follow procedure forces Lundazi District Council to halt construction of a third bank in the district.
