Farmers in Chipata owed over 10 million Kwacha by Food Reserve Agency

Over 10 million Kwacha is still owed to farmers, who sold their maize to FRA, the Food Reserve Agency, in Chipata district.
District Commissioner, Kalunga Zulu says that this is out of 29 million Kwacha worth of maize bought from farmers in the district.
Mr. Zulu however, says that 18, 877 million Kwacha has been paid out to the farmers.
He says this represents 65 per cent of the amount paid to farmers.
The DC explained that over three thousand by 50 kilogram bags of maize have been bought from the farmers in Chipata this marketing season.
Mr. Zulu stated that government is making efforts to ensure that all farmers who sold their maize to FRA are paid in two weeks’ time, as announced by the Agriculture Minister, Given Lubinda.
