Small scale farmers in Lundazi district are reportedly collecting two bags of fertilizer, which contrary to the FISP, Farmer Input Support Programme guidelines.
Some farmers caught up by Breeze News complained that cooperative leaders are allocating themselves prescribed number of bags while members are being given two bags.
And Chimaliro Ward Councilor, John Kamanga stated that it was going to be difficult for government to fight poverty with such trends.
Mr. Kamanga also explained that government’s decision to supply full allocations of inputs has not fully reached the small scale farmers, adding that this is why they are being reaped off.
And Lundazi District Agricultural Coordinator Philemon Lungu has described the development as illegal.
Mr. Lungu maintained that each FISP beneficiary is entitled to four bags of fertilizer.
