FDD leader Edith Nawakwi files nominations

Forum for Democracy and Development FDD presidential candidate Edith Nawakwi yesterday successfully filed in her nomination papers for the August 11 general elections.

Ms. Nawakwi filed her papers alongside her running mate Reformed Church of Zambia RCZ, Chipata congregation Reverend, Dr. Clement Mwanza.

Electoral Commission of Zambia, ECZ, Public Relations Manager Chris Akufuna confirmed this to Breeze News.

Mr. Akufuna says Ms. Nawakwi and Dr. Mwanza successfully filed in their nomination papers around 14 hours in Lusaka.

And Mr. Akufuna says the Democratic Assembly Presidential candidate, Maxwell Mwamba did not file in his nomination papers yesterday.

He says Mr. Mwamba, who was supposed to file his nomination papers after Edith Nawakwi did not show up at the nomination centre as he only sent him a message on phone indicating that he needed to be given another time to file his nomination papers.

Mr. Akufuna could not state whether ECZ will give the DA Presidential Candidate another chance to file his nomination papers.

UNIP Presidential candidate Tilyenji Kaunda and his running mate Njenkwa Anamela also filed in their nomination papers yesterday in the morning.
