FDD to hold national convention in December

The Forum for Democracy and Development, FDD party says it will still go ahead and hold a national convention in December this year.

FDD spokesperson, Antonio Mwanza, told Breeze News that during the convention, which will be held between December 9 and 13 all the positions, including the party presidency will be contested.

He says the National Policy Committee resolved that the party holds a convention in order to promote intra party democracy as well as allow fresh leadership.

Mr. Mwanza, says members, who have been expressing the need for the party to hold a national convention should not worry, as the resolutions of the National Policy Committee has not changed.

He also said all members, who qualify, in accordance with the party’s constitution are eligible to contest various positions.

Last week, some people called for a convention to give members an opportunity to elect new leaders.
