Police in Chipata have an earthed a scam in which a female manager at Mount Meru filling station, Rozara Tersa Sandu yesterday faked an aggravated robbery.
Eastern Province Deputy Police Commissioner, Patrick Bili, says that Ms. Sandu, aged 30 years, reported to police around 10 hours that she was attacked by two men while in her office.
Ms. Sandu reported that she was robbed of One Hundred and Twenty Six Thousand, Two Hundred and Sixty Kwacha cash.
Mr. Bili explained that police immediately instituted investigations, which later revealed that it was actually Ms. Sandu herself, who organized the fake robbery.
He explained that Ms. Sandu was working with her boyfriend and a friend to the boyfriend, who both stay in Livingstone.
Mr. Bili says that police in Lusaka were alerted and the two men were arrested in Lusaka, as they were on their way back to Livingstone.
He says the suspects who are in police custody will be charged and appear in court soon.
And Mr. Bili has warned people in Eastern Province to stop fabricating stories of aggravated robbery.
He cautioned that police have not gone to slumber and will thoroughly investigate all cases reported.
