Fifty students from Sambizga College of Education in Chipata are today graduating in the college’s first graduation ceremony.
Speaking at the ceremony, Sambizga College of Education Principal, Francis Zimba says the graduates have obtained diplomas in primary education.
Mr. Zimba explained that the Primary Education Diplomas are given to the graduates in collaboration with UNZA, the University of Zambia.
And Mr Zimba has asked government to start offering bursaries to students in private colleges as they also struggle to pay the fees.
Meanwhile speaking at the same event, Provincial Education Officer, Allan Lingambe urged the new graduates to start applying for jobs so that they may be deployed in the next deployment exercise.
Dr. Lingambe also advised teachers, who are certificate holders to upgrade their qualifications stating that government is in the process of phasing away certificates in teaching.
