The number of beneficiaries under FISP, the Farmer Input Support Programme in Chipata has remained at 45,800 this year.
District Agriculture Coordinator, Michael Ngulube confirmed to Breeze News that the Ministry has in the 2015/2016 farming season maintained the same number of farmers who benefited last year.
Mr. Ngulube says that the district has been allocated a total of 186,200 by 50 kilogram bags of D-compound and Urea fertilizer.
Mr. Ngulube explained that out of this allocation, D-Compound and Urea have an allocation 91, 600 each while 3,000 is for groundnuts.
He says that a total of 55,760 by 50 kilogram bags of D- compound has already been distributed to the farmers.
Mr. Ngulube says his office is still waiting for the Minister of Agriculture and Livestock to announce a supplier for Urea so that they start distributing to the farmers.
The DACO says that the distribution of inputs will be done early this year when the roads are still dry and to give time to farmers to plan for the next farming season.
FISP beneficiaries in Chipata remain at 45,800 this year.
