Some pupils in Chief Chinunda’s area in Chipata are unable to attend classes as their areas have been cut off due to flooding of streams and dambos.
Chamakanga Section Chairperson, Mgaiwa Banda, says some pupils at Dwankhozi Primary School are among those affected, as they are unable to cross Dwasenga Dambo.
He explained that in some instances, some pupils in the area have stayed for a week without attending classes.
Mr. Banda says that the dambo is now full of water, cutting off pupils from the school, as it has no crossing point.
He explained that this is worrying parents, because their children are now missing out.
Mr. Banda says that for many years, people in the area have been calling for bridges to be put up, but nothing has been done.
