Floods cause more havoc in Mambwe district with 196 families left homeless.

Floods have again hit Mambwe district with 196 families and fields being affected.

This follows continuous rains that have been experienced in the area recently.

Mambwe District Commissioner, Janet Palukani has told Breeze News that 150 families have been displaced in Jumbe area and their fields washed away while 46 fields in M’soro area have also been washed away.

Ms. Palukani says that more families are expected to be displaced and their fields destroyed, because her office has continued to receive reports on floods on a daily basis.

She says that government has already assisted the affected families with tents and has send officers from the Ministry of Agriculture to ascertain the situation for possible assistance of relief food.
