Floods destroy about 90 crop gardens in Chief Chitungulu’s area in Lundazi district.

At least 90 crop gardens have been washed away and buried by sand following floods in Chief Chitungulu’s area in Lundazi district.
Lumimba Ward Councillor, Alex Banda has confirmed the development to Breeze News, stating that affected areas include Msekeni, Kataba and Lumimba.
Mr. Banda stated that the washed away crops were a source of survival for the villagers during this period when the area is faced with food insecurity.
He indicated that the crops were washed away on Tuesday night after an overnight downpour experienced in the area.
Mr. Banda further revealed that people in the area opted to venture into gardening so that they sell their crops and later buy maize.
The civic leader has appealed to government to consider sending relief maize to the area.
