FODEP says its disputed election statement was not conclusive

The Foundation for Democratic Process FODEP says its disputed preliminary statement issued regarding its observations of the 11th August, 2016 elections was not conclusive.

FODEP President Shepherd Chilombe says that a detailed report shall be shared to all stakeholders in the electoral process where conclusions shall be made.

Mr. Chilombe said this in a statement availed to Breeze News.

On 17th August FODEP released a report where it alleged that the August 11 presidential election was marred with irregularities.

Mr. Chilombe pointed out that one of the irregularities was in Lundazi Central Constituency where ECZ announced that PF candidate Edgar Lungu obtained 29,979 while UPND candidate Hakainde Hichilema got 4,975, bringing the total to 34,954.

He charged that this was an anomaly because the number of votes cast in the constituency was 29,741.

However, FODEP has been accused of misleading Zambians by the ruling Patriotic Front, who argue that there were no irregularities in Lundazi central.
