Former President Rupiah Banda has pleaded not guilty to a charge of abuse of power during his tenure.
The charge relate to an oil deal signed with a Nigerian company.
Mr. Banda was arrested and questioned for nearly three hours before being freed on bail yesterday.
On March 15, the 76-year-old Mr. Banda was stripped of presidential immunity by parliament, a matter, which he is contesting in court.
He is due back in court next month to answer further allegations when his trial starts.
Mr. Banda is also expected to appear before the Government Joint Investigative Team on Thursday next week for further interrogations.
