Former republican president Rupiah Banda disturbed by allegations that he wants to seek criminal asylum in South Africa.

Former republican president Rupiah Banda, says he is disturbed by reports being perpetrated by government, alleging that his travel to South Africa was aimed at seeking criminal asylum in that country.
The former head of State says it is regrettable that the Zambian government can revel in peddling falsehoods against its own citizen.
This is contained in a press statement availed to Breeze News from the office of the fourth Republican President.
Mr. Banda states that following the misleading statements by government officials and incorrect media reports, he wishes to clarify that his current travel plans were planned long in advance and that he expects to return to Zambia soon.
He says that any statements that have been made regarding fabricated ideas of ‘asylum’ or ‘charges’ have no basis in fact.
