Government has told public service workers that it’s done its best to improve their working conditions.
Eastern Province Assistant Secretary, Royd Tembo says government is providing decent wages to its workers and ensuring gender equality in its institutions.
Mr. Tembo was speaking this morning during the award giving ceremony to deserving government institutions who won prizes in various categories during public service day exhibitions.
Mr. Tembo says government has also introduced the new employment act which calls for the abolishment of casualization and protection of women from any form of harassment and discrimination at places of work to improve the condition of its workers.
He says government recognises the role of public service workers as key in driving economic growth and urged workers to remain non-partisan or resign from public service if they want to join politics.
Mr. Tembo also announced institutions that came first in five categories during the road exhibition.
These are Zambia Police Service, Department of Wildlife and Natural Resources, CCPC, the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission and the overall winner being the Ministry of Health.
