Government calls for individual and stakeholder involvement in fighting tuberculosis.

Government has called on individuals and all stakeholders to be involved in the fight against death caused by tuberculosis.
Speaking during World TB Day held at Mukomba Basic School in Lundazi, District Commissioner, Janet Mvula reminded the gathering to make individual commitment to stop TB in their lifetime.
Ms. Mvula indicated that there is need for Zambians to join hands in the fight against TB if Zambia is to attain MDG, Millennium Development Goal number 6, which targets to reduce the prevalence rate of TB by half by 2015.

She revealed that government has embarked on capacity building programmes under which many health workers and community members are being trained in TB suspect identification and case management in hospitals and communities.
And a TB Survivor, Christine Mwanda 30, of Changambika village in Chief Kapichila, advised TB patients to adhere to treatment.
Ms. Mwanda, who was cured of TB in 2000, stated that TB is a curable disease if treatment is followed.
